Vote!

Kensington's equivalent of a town council, the KPPCSD is losing three of its five members this year. For various reasons, three Directors have chosen not to run in the upcoming November elections. Seven members of the community have stepped forward and thrown their hats in the ring. My trusty black fedora is one of them.

Kensington, being an unincorporated area, is organized as a Special District. The five elected Directors of the Kensington Police Protection Community Services District manage many aspects of daily life in Kensington. When you step out to grab the paper and find yourself locked out in you bathrobe, the police officer who comes to the rescue is paid by the KPPCSD. The garbage truck that shows up minutes after you and your dignity are safely back in your house; you can thank the 'CSD for that too. Visit the park by the library and enjoy the fruits of the 'CSD's Park Committee. The Emergency Preparedness Committee works with the Fire District on making Kensington more resilient to the risks posed by the Hayward Fault and wildfire prone Wildcat Canyon. The Finance Committee figures out how to balance the budget for it all.

With the majority of the board being replaced in a single election, it is critical that we make careful and considered choices. Whether or not you choose to vote for me, I urge you to learn all you can about the various candidates, and please, VOTE.
